Our Story
Entrepreneur - Michael Difazio
Michael Difazio is a reclaim artist; he builds furniture and art pieces out of older materials that no longer serve the purpose they were originally built for.
His passion began when he was young with an interest in woodworking. He then developed a keen eye for vintage items which lead to his concept of recycling the old into new.
There’s more to the pieces he makes than just being simple piece of furniture, there’s always a story underneath. When looking at something that has history and then turning it in to something new, he feels he is literally giving old materials new life.
Customer satisfaction is key, and Difazio has been fortunate to have his customers consistently rave about his work. His showroom is home to the many materials available such as, resawn beam, floor joist, bowling lane, regular barnwood, or whatever their hearts may desire. Each customer has the opportunity to hand pick and choose the story they want for their piece.
Difazio’s favourite pieces to create are dining room tables with big tabletops. They are extremely labour intensive however, there’s so much he can put into it, and multiple ways he can finish it. Michael sincerely appreciates how important a dining room table is to a house and the homeowners. He views a dining table as the heart of the home, as he was raised at one himself. Good times, bad times, they’re all had around the dining room table.
In the future, Difazio sees himself demoing and reclaiming entire buildings – selling the materials as well as building with the materials. He would also like to do more design work, build a furniture line, complete his own designs that he can display and sell in his showroom and open multiple locations.
